Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce Holds Its 10th DPD …
The Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce held its 10th annual ‘Dallas Police Department Appreciation Luncheon and Scholarship Award’ Tuesday, June 12th at the Omni Hotel – Dallas Park West.
10 graduating seniors received $1,000 scholarship each.
DPD Chief U. Renee Hall delivered the keynote speech.
“On behalf of the Dallas Police Department, I would like to thank the Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce for hosting the 10th annual DPD Scholarship Banquet. To Date, the Chamber has awarded over 50 scholarships. These scholarships have significantly impacted the lives of our DPD families. Education is paramount and plays an intricate part in community enrichment. We are deeply thankful for your generosity, and truly appreciate our partnership” said Chief Hall.
The scholarship recipients are sons and daughters of DPD officers.
Michael Lee, who is the past president of GDKACC, started this program as a way to “say thank you” to the men and women in uniform and a way to build a strong relationship between DPD and Korean-American community of Dallas.
Title sponsor of this year’s scholarship award was, once again, Metro PCS. Scholarship sponsors include Bank of Hope(formerly Wilshire State Bank), Ko-Mart, Kind Spa & Sauna, Advance Wireless, Wireless Stop, DF Wireless, UPCS, DASH Wireless, DKnet Radio, and Korean-American Beauty Supply Association of North Texas.
President Suk-Chan Yu of the Korean Society of Dallas gave special donation of $1,000 to the Fallen Officers Foundation during the scholarship award ceremony.
